The 2nd Generation of the Amazon Echo is finally here! The second generation comes with an impressive new set of colors too. However, the first line shipped with an audio bug, which you may have already heard about, but fret not! It has already been resolved, and the new speaker system inside and the microphone works better than ever!
Amazon Echo 2nd Generation Review: What’s New?
The most impressive addition is going to be the new look. There are six design options to choose from and there is surely one to perfectly match the inside of any Smart Home. The price tag, even though it’s brand new, is actually cheaper than the 1st generation model. The model is also slightly smaller, using a new and improved design.

The Audio “Problem” (It’s Been Resolved!)

If you are reading this review because you’ve heard about a lack of audio quality, then you’ve come to the right place. This review was written on November 11, 2017. This is after Amazon released the software update which completely resolved the temporary, but very real, audio problem. Luckily for you, if you are buying this now or in the future, you’ll be happy to know that it will come with all the updates and it will rock your socks with the new quality for such a small size.
Besides, if you are getting the Amazon Echo, you are starting the beginning of a long journey of living in a Smart House. One of the first things people connect their Smart Hub(Echo) is to a professional Speaker or Home Theater. This can be done by the typical 3.5 mm cable, or via WiFi and/or Bluetooth.
The new and improved audio is certainly better than Amazon Echo Generation 1, but it certainly can’t compete with a heavy-duty speaker system. Look into the Sonos One, the new Smart Voice-Controlled Speaker System.

Amazon Echo 2nd Generation

How does the 2nd Gen compare to the 1st Gen?

Everything, and we mean everything else is exactly the same. All of the same Alexa Skills remain the same. All of the same synchronizations with apps, appliances, and tools all remain the same. This is literally nothing more than a newer, smaller, better looking, and cheaper version of the same thing. There is literally no reason to buy the 1st generation model anymore. The only reason anyone would is if they really like the way it looks and it matches the inside of their house better.

What can the Amazon Alexa 2nd Generation do?

The newest product in the Alexa lineup continues the tradition of the last. Namely, the Amazon Alexa 2nd Generation serves as a Smart Home Hub, connecting you to almost any device in your house. It allows you to command the very flow of electricity to certain lights, commanding them to change power levels and even color. It allows you to control every aspect of your television, both the channels and the volume, and even Netflix – all without having to touch a remote. It allows you to track and deliver the groceries you need for the week, or have a pizza delivered to your door, or even hail a ride with Lyft or Uber.

You can control the temperature in different parts of your house. You can open and close your garage door, or power on a grill. You can have it read you breaking news, or listen to your favorite music. You can even build and share custom Skills that allow you to do a vast number of things, from creating notes to giving you reminders of tasks to do for the day.

Why are the Reviews better for the 1st Generation compared to the 2nd Generation Amazon Alexa?

There is a certain degree of risk when you are buying the first line of a new product, and occasionally something goes awry. In this case, it was the audio glitch. People that purchased it had no idea what, if anything, was wrong, and they were not happy. They started leaving reviews all over the internet. As of now, you can disregard all of them. They aren’t wrong, however, the information they have is out of date. The minor issue, which only applies to people who aren’t connecting to any kind of audio speaker, has been completely resolved.
